How to Determine Your Chinese Zodiac Sign Although the Chinese Zodiac Signs are determined by Years, the Chinese Astrologer/Practitioner understand that the Chinese Years are based on Lunar Month System. Since a Lunar Month Period runs from one New Moon to the Next, and there is only an approximate of 29 Days from one to the next, it becomes necessary to add 1 Lunar Month every 29 Lunar Months. This produces both a 12 (Short) Lunar Month Year Period, and a 13 (Long) Lunar Month Year Period when the Extra Lunar Month has been added to the Chinese Calendar Year. Sometime during the Month of January or February for several years to come, the beginning of the Chinese Calendar Year will start. Unless mankind find the Fountain of Youth during our Lifetime, it seems safe to say we won't experience kick into a month on either side of those two. For those who may be interested in learning more about the Chinese Zodiac Signs, I do recommend the following for your learning quest: The Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes (Author: Theodora Lau) HarperCollins Publishers, Inc. http://www.harpercollins.com/global_scripts/product_catalog/book_xml.asp?isbn=006077777X |
